Rapid Nucleic Acid Testing for Viruses Using RAA
Xpedite Diagnostics are now suppliers of Recombinase Aided Amplification (RAA) Technology, a rapid nucleic acid isothermal method, that requires a simple heat block to amplify viral nucleic acid present in samples and returns results (comparable to PCR) in 15 minutes.
The RAA reagents are an alternative to conventional PCR. They are manufactured by Qitan Biotechnologies, who had recent success with the reagents in developing a rapid nucleic acid COVID-19 test.
The RT-RAA COVID-19 test obtained National Medical Products Administration approval. It also demonstrated comparable sensitivity and specificity to commercial RT-PCR tests during an evaluation carried out in 5 hospitals across 4 regions in China under the guise of China CDC.
- as sensitive as PCR - but finished in 15 minutes - no need for a PCR cycler
- real-time results in 5-10 minutes using fluorescence probes
- well-suited for Point-of-Care (POC) applications
- freeze-dried reagent mix
